NEVER Use One of These 25 Passwords!

Recently, security appliance company SplashData released its annual “Worst Passwords” list, where they collected data on over 2 million passwords that were leaked throughout 2015 to see which ones were the most common.

It’s important to note that the best passwords you can use contain a complicated series of numbers and letters, and if applicable – special symbols such as an exclamation mark. However people seem to be opting to go for simplicity and are picking passwords that are very easy to guess. Alarmingly, a huge number of people were using the password ‘123456’ which is known as the most hackable passwords in existence. It’s safe to safe that the majority of passwords featured in this top 25 lists are first port of calls for hackers so it’s essential to be a little more inventive.

At the same time, avoid names of those close to you. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to take a closer look at a social profile to guess the names you might use as a password. Another one to avoid are birthdates, pet names, locations etc.

Finally, it’s not good practice to use one password for everything either, as if one things gets compromised, then all of your accounts are vulnerable. Try to invent a number and letter system that you’ll be able to remember, but isn’t going to be easy for anyone else to know.
